Going through trouble with a friend always makes it easier, even for horses.

Jim Davis, editor of Hoofbeat and ex TPMU, chats with the two American officers.

Dillon

Dillon is a most courageous and clever mount.

Two officers from Wyoming County New York have been training with the TPMU this week. They drove all the way up here with their two horses. Here they are in the ring, seeing the smoke machine for the first time during sensory training.

Dillon is the horse on the left and Mr.T on the right.

It's all over, hockey season ended for us last week. A nostalgic look back to the beginning of the season when we actually thought we had a chance. Oh well.

Vimy Ridge

April 9-12, 1917

* The Battle of Vimy Ridge was the biggest single Allied advance on the Western front up to that point in World War I.

* Months of preparation went into the battle, included building tunnels, trenches, tramways and roads. Extensive reconnaissance used observation balloons for the first time, and the German defences were subjected to a three-week barrage of artillery in advance.

* All four divisions of the Canadian Corps went into battle.

* The attack began at dawn and Canadians took the crest of Vimy Ridge in the afternoon of April 9.

* On April 12, they took Hill 145, the highest feature on the ridge, and also the "Pimple," a large hill on the northern end of Vimy Ridge.

Vimy Ridge Battle Casualties

* 10,602 Canadians wounded
* 3,598 Canadians died

Why do I have ten times more winter photos than spring and summer? Oh right, I forgot, this is Canada. Winter lasts 7 months. ;-)

Last month's shoot for a local cable show. The hosts of the show came to the studio and we tried to recreate a James Bond poster for them. (with them as the models) This was the rough draft.

I always find the outtakes infinitely more amusing than the actual shots.

Toronto Police Mounted Unit training class had their graduation today. They were making sure their flags were unfurled properly for the class photo.
