Here's a baby hanging from a tree. Neither of these photos is mine, obviously, but I did a ton of reading this morning about the little guys and I am so amazed. I knew nothing about them. They're North America's only marsupial (which means they carry their young in a pouch) and they're distantly related to Australia's kangaroos. They have opposable thumbs on their hind feet to grip branches and things. They're non-aggressive and eat all sorts of pest like roaches and rats. They would rather run or "play possum" than fight which makes me feel even worse that the dog killed one.
