This is another one of those mysterious urban imponderables. Why are there all these colourful silk saris washed up on the shores of Lake Ontario? I believe I solved the puzzle of the beached coconuts last year. But now this. Ouch. Help me, someone.

Yikes! I hope not. Haven't noticed any skeletal remains, but will keep my eyes peeled. ;-)
but don't you often see discarded wrappers on the beach...
