I live and work in Toronto Canada, which was just pegged as the most multi-cultural city in the world. Anyway, I hope the portraits on my various sites mirror the diversity of faces in our city.

Very good! You definitely have an eye for a good photo!
was there a big crate nearby with ACME on it? - then it's a coyote. ;o)
great photo! (fine critter)
It is amazing what you can find on the internet... a little Google.. and viola'
Coyotes are generally much smaller, although urban coyotes may be significantly larger than their rural kin. Coyotes hold their tails at a downward angle, while wolves carry their tails straight out. Domestic dogs carry their tails upright.
Looks like a coyote tail to me! :) AWESOME pic..
Thanks for the input everyone! I was wishing it was a wolf, because I've never seen one, but all the same, don't they call coyotes brush wolves?!
It was nice seeing him anyway, he looked so healthy and free.
Actually, tail carriage is an aspect of canine body language, so I'm not sure you can draw that conclusion about subspecies vs tail angle. For instance, in How to Speak Dog, Koren describes a raised tail and upright body carriage is a display of assertion.
Consider the gaiting German Shepherd in: http://gsdpix.tripod.com/openmale_gait.jpg. Low tail, yet a domestic dog.
That is a beautiful shot of a beautiful coyote though.
and it seems the debate continues... I watched a documentary last nite on wolves and there they all were... running around with their tails hung low... so I guess we have proved one thing, you can't believe everything you read on the net... anyone got any other ideas?
